Policy
Last updated: 28 August 2026
This policy describes how Perseclave LLC ("Perseclave", "we", "us") handles information collected through this site and the Diary of a Lost Student™ podcast. Perseclave is the party responsible for that information — the data controller, if you're asking in GDPR terms.
The short version
We collect your email address only if you hand it to us, and we use it only to tell you about new episodes. We don't sell it, rent it, or trade it. There are no advertising trackers on this site. If you'd like your address deleted, ask and it's gone — no explanation needed.
1 · What we collect
| What | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Only if you submit the signup form | To keep you up to date with DOALS — what's coming, what's changing, and anything your podcast player wouldn't announce |
| Survey answers | Only if you complete the listener survey | To understand where providers get stuck, so episodes are built at the right depth. Email is optional there — the survey works anonymously |
| Technical data | Automatically, when the site loads | IP address, browser and device type, referring page — standard server logs kept by our host |
| Playback data | If you press play on the embedded player | Our podcast host records plays and rough listening figures |
That's the entire list. There is no account to create, no profile built about you, and no advertising or cross-site tracking on this site.
2 · What we never collect
We do not want, ask for, or knowingly store any patient information. Please don't send it to us — if you do, we'll delete it rather than read further.
We also don't collect payment details. If you subscribe to the Drug Compendium™, Supercast handles billing entirely and we never see your card.
3 · How we use what we collect
Your email address is used to keep you up to date with DOALS — what's coming, what's changing, and occasional news your podcast player wouldn't announce. Nothing else. We don't sell it, rent it, share it with advertisers, or use it to train machine-learning models.
Technical and playback data is used in aggregate to understand roughly how many people visit and listen, and which episodes resonate. We don't attempt to identify individuals from it.
Survey answers shape what we make. We may quote what you write — on the site, in an episode, or in show notes — but only in the way you selected on the form: with your name and credential, initials only, anonymously, or not at all. If you asked not to be quoted, we won't, and you can change your mind by emailing us. We never publish an email address alongside a quote.
4 · Who else is involved
Running a website means relying on other companies. Each of these handles some data on our behalf and operates under its own privacy policy:
- Netlify — hosts the site and stores email signups and survey responses submitted through the forms.
- RSS.com — hosts the audio and provides the embedded player, which records playback statistics.
- Supercast — handles Drug Compendium™ subscriptions, billing, and private feed delivery.
- Google Fonts — serves the typefaces. Loading a font makes a request to Google's servers, which means your IP address is visible to Google in that moment.
- Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms — if you listen there, their privacy policies govern, not ours. They report only aggregate figures back to us.
We have no control over what these companies do with data they collect directly, and we'd encourage you to read their policies if that matters to you.
6 · How long we keep things
Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Survey responses are kept while they're still useful for planning episodes, and any response can be deleted on request. Server logs are kept only as long as our host retains them in the ordinary course. Aggregate listening statistics are kept indefinitely, because they don't identify anyone.
7 · Your rights
Whatever jurisdiction you're in, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it — and we'll do it. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our lawful basis for sending you email is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. If you're in California, you have rights under the CCPA and CPRA including knowing what is collected and requesting deletion. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
To exercise any of this, email the address in section 12. We won't treat you differently for asking.
8 · Children
This site is made for anesthesia providers and those training to become them. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their email address, tell us and we'll remove it.
9 · Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and the little data we hold sits with reputable providers. That said, no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security. We'd rather say that plainly than promise otherwise.
10 · Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to how we use your email address will be announced in an email before they take effect.
11 · Contact
Questions, deletion requests, or anything that looks wrong: info@diaryofaloststudent.com, addressed to Perseclave LLC. A real person reads it.
